I am delighted to be running these classes – the dates are now finally set…and the sessions are available in blocks of 5 or 10, running on Mondays, either morning or afternoon. There is a reduction when booking 10 classes. Prices and dates below.
Over the weeks we will be working from observation and if the weather is kind we will take paper, ink, brushes, pencils and gouache outside either into the garden or valley. We will be making lots of sketches and paintings with an emphasis on mark making, and techniques, sometimes working on a large scale with big brushes; attempting to reduce what we see and spontaneously capture the essence of the landscape and the nature around us. These sketches will inform the paintings that will be made back in the studio.
Back in the studio we will look at making different scale work and the aim is to encourage you to apply the freedom and the techniques you used for your drawings and colour sketches. These will be translated into both a series of small paintings and the planning and making of a larger work. The intention is that through demonstrations and individual feed back you will develop ways of working that will be personal to you.
